tis 17 nov 2009, 19:17#72017Greetings to all. New member here from Canada. Sorry I have to impose my English on you, but jag kan inte tala svenska!

I have plenty of Swedish steel around here: Mora knives, E.A. Berg chisels, axes of course - lots of them(!), some Carl Gustafs in 6.5mm etc...

Anyway, my reason for posting here is I have a bush hook, as we call it in English, made by Edsbyns Industri AB ("EIA"), model 403, and I need a new handle for it!

These haven't been imported to North America for quite a few years so nothing is available here. I would make a new handle, but too many other projects on the bench!

Does anyone know where I could find a couple of spare handles for one of these?

tis 17 nov 2009, 23:07#72065It is an older one I agree, but a good one.

The shank of the blade goes past the last rivet on the handle which makes it probably quite a bit stronger IMO than the newer type with the socket.

The only reason it broke was I somehow struck against the trunk of a tree about where the last rivet is. That cracked the handle. I wrapped it in wire and tape, but that failed too after a year or so.

Somewhere out there must be some of those handles still...!

sön 27 feb 2011, 18:00#120638Well, there is a "Law of Attraction"! I happened to go into a little second-hand store and there on the shelf is a NOS axe handle and the handle from a röjkniven for $6.00!

Not exactly the same, a little older and a different company (SKOGSDON AB), but close enough.

The blade snapped right off on this one, so the EAL design is better obviously. I asked if the blade was available, but it was not.

So, one more rivet and we are in business again.

ons 24 apr 2013, 20:25#222971Just an update: thanks to a kind person I now have several new EIA röjkniven as shown in the photo above and they seem to be of good quality also. Only the short handle is now offered, but the handle of the "slasher" shown on the right hand side of the photo will fit the röjkniven perfectly, for those like me who want the longer handle.
