Check that the lamp is intact
clean and tighten all battery connections
connect freshly charged batteries
start the diesel engine
What voltage can you measure on batteries and on the alternator?

There is a fuse #9 for all control lamps and the tachometer. Follow cable marked #7 from the fuse board to charge lamp and tachometer under the dashboard. There has to be 24+ Volt under the dashboard. If the lamp still is not lit when you turn on the ignition it is broken. Replace it with a bulb that works!

Here are some pages about high/low gear and all-wheel dríve or power to your "wheelchair"...
It is all in Swedish and you can start to browse the pages and see if you can figure anything out. There is a coupling called "Scania koppling" that connects the power to the "wheelchair" (rear end).
The Scania koppling is located just behind the gearbox. Depending on the serial number on your machine it can be operated hydraulically. Later models are operated pneumatically (pressured air)...
