H415 Feed Wheels

We are running in the Pacific Northwest of the United States where we primarily cut Douglas Fir in lengths 17’ to 41’ long. We are looking for a wheel that will bite into our bark which can be over an inch thick in certain stands, when slipping from the sap running but not damage the wood itself what would be a recommendation? One thought has been a set of Balmec wheels or a set of Mense V-tec wheels.

We have these on two harvesters (jd414) and we are satisfied.
And the price is lower than Mense or Finnskogsvalsen.

How do they do when the bark is slipping/peeling? These two pictures are of some the bark we can see depending on the age of the stand.

They work well in our conditions.
We cut mostly spruce and pine. 🙂
